Sayyid Muhammad Badshah Qadiri(RA)
As we look back through the journey of human history, we find that Allah has always chosen special individuals to guide humanity back to Him when people lost their way. The prophets were the greatest among these chosen ones, entrusted with planting and nurturing the living word of truth, Kalima Tawheed/ Kalima Shahadat. Kalima Tawheed is not only the heart of Islamic belief but also the foundation that gives life to all other forms of worship.
After the time of the prophets, this divine responsibility passed on to the saints (Arifeen/Aulia)- the beloved friends of Allah. These spiritual guides, known as the Mashaikh, appeared across different times and lands, reviving hearts and reawakening truth whenever the world was in need. Among the most revered in recent times was Sayyid Mohammad Badshah Qadri Yamani (RA), whose life, teachings, and legacy continue to inspire seekers on the path of divine unity. Badshah Qadri Is Also known As Qadeerullah by His Followers.
Early Life and Spiritual Lineage:
Sayyid Muhammad Badshah Qadiri(RA) was born on the auspicious day of Eid al-Adha, around Hijri 1324 (AD 1903), in Raichur, Karnataka. His birth marked the beginning of a spiritual journey deeply rooted in nobility and divine favor. A descendant of Imam Hasan (RA), the beloved grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), his forefathers hailed from a renowned Yemeni lineage. These early generations migrated to the Indian subcontinent to spread the knowledge and light of Islam, particularly settling in the Karnataka region. Due to this noble ancestry, the saint was often honored with the title Badshah Yamani Qadeeri.
Long before his birth, saintly poets foretold the rise of a radiant light- like a full moon shining with divine brilliance. This light, they said, would appear just before mankind cast its own imitation moons into the sky as artificial satellites.
The realization of this prophecy became evident in the life of Sayyid Badshah Qadiri (RA), whose luminous presence awakened and illuminated the hearts of thousands
Nurturing the Light: The Path of Spiritual Growth:
From a tender age, Sayyid Muhammad Badshah Qadiri (RA) was enveloped in an atmosphere of deep spirituality. His early training was under the care of his maternal uncle and spiritual mentor, Sayyid Muinuddin Shah Qadiri (RA), a devout Sufi of profound wisdom. Even before reaching adulthood, the young seeker attained remarkable spiritual stations, guided lovingly by his uncle.
As his spiritual journey deepened, he met Sayyiduna Shaikh Kareemullah Shah Qadiri (RA) of Chitagoppa-(Chitagoppa is a taluka and town in Bidar district of Karnataka, India) a turning point in his life. That meeting awakened him to the deeper essence of Shahadah and the true meaning of Tawheed. Guided by Kareemullah Shah Qadiri (RA), he entered a higher realm of spiritual perfection and formally took Bai’ah (pledge of allegiance) at his hands.
At just 24 years of age, he was granted Khilafah (spiritual succession) by his Sheikh Kareemullah Shah Qadiri (RA). This was not merely a symbolic gesture but a divine trust, to carry forward the legacy of Tawheed as propagated by Ghaus al-Azam Abdul Qadir Jilani (RA). Soon after this elevation, his Sheikh left the material realm, and the young saint assumed the full mantle of leadership.
A Mission of Oneness: The Path of Kalima Tawheed:
From his spiritual center in Wadi Shareef, Halkatta, Sayyid Badshah Qadiri (RA) revived and spread the Qadiriyya- the golden path, devoted to the perfection of Kalima of Tawheed/Shahadat. His shrine became a beacon of divine remembrance, drawing thousands during the annual Uroos Mubarak, with special trains arranged from Hyderabad to accommodate the influx.
His key works include Gulzare Qadeer (Rose garden of Qadeer), a timeless guide for seekers, and Kalima e Panch Rangi, an illustrated exposition of the Kalima that made the depth of Tawheed accessible to all.
After the Sultan of all Auliyas, Ghaus-ul-Azam (RA), it was Sayyid Muhammad Badshah Qadiri(RA) who, with unmatched clarity, declared that Tawheed is not merely spoken, it is lived. It is a light that transforms the heart and aligns the soul completely with Allah
The Pole Stars of Guidance: His Disciples and Successors:
Echoing the words of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)—"My companions are like stars; whichever of them you follow, you will be rightly guided", the mashaikhs too are guiding lights for seekers. While every star shines in its orbit, a rare few, like the Pole Star remain fixed, offering right direction to all, wherever they are. Sayyid Muhammad Badshah Qadiri (RA) was one such enduring beacon of divine guidance.
He appointed over 140 Khalifas, each charged with spreading the message of Tawheed and Shahadah in diverse regions. Among his key disciples was Sheikh Yusuf Sultan Shah Qadiri(RA), whom he met in Shivapur, Maharashtra, in the mid-1970s. Captivated by the depth of Sheikh Yusuf Sultan’s Friday sermon near the Dargah of Qamar Ali Darvesh (RA), Sayyid Badshah Qadiri (RA) welcomed him into the real Qadiri path. In Dhul Qa’dah 1975 CE, he conferred upon him the Khilafah of the pure Tawheedi path in a grand ceremony at Wadi, attended by scholars and saints alike.
A Legacy That Lives On: The Continuing Radiance of Tawheed:
On the 13th of Muharram, 1399 Hijri (AD 1978), Sayyid Muhammad Badshah Qadiri (RA) left the material realm, and his body was laid to rest on the 14th Muharram at Wadi Shareef. But his spiritual mission did not end. His blessed successor, Qutbuzzaman Sheikh Yusuf Sultan Shah Qadiri (RA), carried forward the flame of Tawheed until he departed from this worldly life on January 25, 2019. Today, the noble path continues through Shaikh Sayyid Muhammad Bava Usthad, Sheikh Yusuf Sulthan’s(RA) Khalifa and Chairman of the Sulthaniya Foundation.
This lineage of light, truth, and divine unity is not just a historical account, it is a living, breathing invitation to every seeker of God.
An Invitation to the Seeker:
